So, how big are your kids?
If anyone is wondering how Owen measured up at his 4-mo. appt, or what size to buy the McGee kiddos, look no further!
Owen weighed in at 15 lbs. 4 oz. which is thinning out a bit and only in the 60th percentile. 25″ long, the 65 percentile, and head is still large at 25″ around! (I don’t remember what percentile that is) He wears a size 6 mos. or 6-9 mos.
Bridget wears size 18 mos. pants usually if they are thin enough and long enough. I wouldn’t recommend size 2T pants, she’s just too skinny. 2T or 3T shirts are good and dresses are always welcome (in a 2T or 3T also as she’s so darn tall!).
Also, heads up that we will be in Denver on September 15 for Bridget to have three tests done (MAG 3, VCUG, and an ultrasound). We’ll keep you posted on that when we know more!

In Today’s Owen News
Owen has found his feet! He grabs them all the time when he’s laying down, almost as if it’s a habit. He’s also really really good at holding his head up now so we’ll work on sitting soon. He rolled over from his belly to his back for the first time on Tuesday, Aug 19. And, he’s laughing more and more (he started in late July). We’ve found he’s ticklish on his belly, but you really gotta get him good and hard! His four-month dr. appt is Thursday, August 28 (exactly on his four-mo. day!).
Putting my money where my mouth is…
This week we had Photovoltaic solar panels installed on our house. The panels, inverter, and wiring are all in place, and we’re just waiting on the electrician and inspector to tie everything in. The system we installed will generate 4.2 Kilowatts. It probably won’t cover our entire usage, but it will handle the bulk of it, especially when it’s cool enough to leave the AC off.
I’ve finally got all the pictures up of the solar panels, plus a short clip of our meter spinning backwards! Check it out, you know you’re jealous.
Black Rocks 2008
Last week we went on our annual float trip down the Colorado River. We floated from the Loma Boat Launch to Westwater in Utah, and camped at the mouth of Mee Canyon. Check out our photo gallery for pictures from the trip.
I took my personal canoe, mostly because I was worried that I wouldn’t even get it in the water this year otherwise. The canoe handled really well, and thanks to some musical chairs between boats right before the only significant swift water, I also learned how the boat performs when swamped (not too well). I think before I take it on any more significant trips I need to get some float bags for the front and rear to help with the added weight. I also discovered that the one man tent my dad gave me isn’t nearly so claustrophobic or coffin like when you have a clear night and can roll up the fly.
We did some nonnative species removal on our way downriver (catfishing). I only caught one catfish, but it was a pretty good sized fish. We spent quite a bit of time this trip jumping off of rocks into the river. All of the pictures and video in the gallery are from one of our catfishing holes, but we did spend some time jumping off a “cliff” about twice as high at an area called black rocks, so named for the, you guessed it, black colored rocks.
